Dwayne Arrives in Hawaii.....September 20, 2002

Back in town for six weeks of location shooting for the action flick once known as "Helldorado," The Rock (former Honolulu resident Dwayne Johnson) sat down with The Advertiser yesterday. The occasion? A press junket for the Oct. 1 DVD release of "The Scorpion King." For yesterday's junket — the first of its kind for a DVD release, according to a Universal Home video rep — the studio put up media from more than 15 news organizations at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

An intense shooting schedule will keep The Rock from attending a "Scorpion King" junket with the film's cast Sept. 30 in Hollywood.

Among the tidbits from our face time with The Rock: his take on Native Hawaiian concerns about his role as King Kamehameha in a planned Hollywood biopic. "His story deserves to be told, and deserves to be told the right way," he said. "Authenticity is key. And it's gonna happen."
